Nuneaton 26 Lions 12

On a dank, dark, dismal afternoon Lions fell to a comprehensive defeat in an ill-tempered local derby against a team just one place above
them in the table.
The Lions were outplayed, out thought, out fought and over powered from start to finish.
The first points were for a penalty against Lions for their inability to stay on side. (3-0). Then came the only piece of play from Lions as Jon
Hales intercepted a poor pass to stroll from half way to score under the posts. John Boden converted (3-7). The Lions lead did not last
long as a poor clearance kick was charged down and the Nuns, flanker only had to drop on the ball. Another very soft try. (10-7). Two
more of the countless penalties conceded with increasing regularity by the Lions were converted to give Nuns a 16-7 half time lead.
TheNuns continued to dominate and a kick to the corner from another penalty , a catch and drive and another try (21-7). Then Nuns
caught the habit and Lions kicked a penalty into the corner and the pack drove Tom Cheney over the line (21-12).
But this was not the start of a fight back instead the game came to its conclusion as it had begun with Lions conceding a penalty ,Nuns
kicking to the corner and the catch and drive was again able to take the ball over the Lions' line to make the final score 26-12.
It had been, even for this season, a well below par performance from Lions who ,in truth, never got going. Again indiscipline (two yellow
cards, numerous penalties) , poor skills and decision meant they never challenged Nuns' dominance.
We need a Christmas present!
